In 1998 I was hurting so bad from being injured in a traffic accident. I was informed this was probably going to end my military career. They discovered two herniated disk in my lower back and two in my neck. This was after being ran over by an armored hummer in Bosnia. I began to drink heavily and abuse opioids. One night I decided I could not continue so I took my service pistol, but just before I pulled the trigger I called to tell my wife I loved her and I was sorry for failing her. God intervened that night. I never took another drink, and God helped me begin to heal mentally. This is why I vow to help others as much as possible.
